Overview

KOREATOWN CHICKEN & DONKATSU brings an authentic slice of Korean cuisine to the heart of downtown Regina. Nestled at 1943 Scarth St, this compact yet spirited restaurant captures the essence of Korea’s beloved fried chicken and donkatsu, offering a flavorful journey for locals and visitors alike.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the chicken. Whether you lean towards the classic original drumsticks fried to a perfect golden crisp, or prefer the complexity of the galbi chicken with its rich garlic soy marinade, each bite reflects careful preparation and genuine Korean flavors. The seasoned and buldak options add sweet, spicy, and smoky layers, with the latter delivering a bold kick thanks to ghost pepper—a must-try for those seeking intense heat. Customers repeatedly praise the distinct tastes that remind them of Korea, anchored by juicy, tender meat and crispy skin.

Alongside the chicken, the pork donkatsu stands out as a hearty, satisfying choice with generous portions. Its accompanying savory sauce enhances the dish, making it a go-to for anyone craving something comforting and substantial. The variety of K-Town specials and appetizers—ranging from shrimp tempura to chewy tteokbokki rice cakes—showcases a diverse menu that caters to different palates, be it for a shared meal or a solo craving.

Despite its small footprint, the restaurant fosters a warm, casual atmosphere. The limited indoor seating means it can fill up quickly during peak hours, prompting many to enjoy their meals on the single patio table or opt for takeout. The ordering process is straightforward, though first-timers might find it slightly confusing with separate counters for dine-in and takeout. The buzzer system ensures food arrives hot and fresh right to your seat, emphasizing convenience.

KOREATOWN CHICKEN & DONKATSU is perfect for diners seeking authentic Korean fried chicken without leaving Regina. It's a treasure for those who appreciate bold, well-crafted flavors in a no-frills setting. Whether you’re dropping in for lunch, grabbing a snack, or sharing a platter with friends, this spot offers a genuine taste experience amidst the city’s growing Korean culinary scene.

Cute little space in downtown regina! Their Korean fried chicken and cold noodles are tasty. If you want authentic Korean fried chicken, you should totally check it out.

SERSONED chicken and GALBI chicken. It tastes just like it did when I had it back in Korea. The king-sized pork DONKATSU comes in a generous portion, so it’s great value for money. All the food is excellent, but the chicken is definitely the highlight!

Wasn't too sure what to expect when it says order at the counter as you want into the place and you see a single menu on the stand. Once we figured out what meal we were going to order, then we were confused about which counter to order at. The one on the left is for take outs or skip the dishes, etc and the one around the corner on the right is where you would order to to go and/or eat in. Once we ordered, we were given buzzers as to when our order is ready, but we aren't to get up from our seats and get our food. They are bringing it to us. Totally different. The place is small and if you did not come early to you are lucky to get a place to eat indoors, if not step outside and eat it on their patio, which by the way they appear to only have one table. It got really loud at times and crowded as well. We came before the lunch rush and it was half filled already. The food was served hot, and it was yummy. A little hard to eat with just a fork and spoon with big pieces of chicken. My lunch buddy got gloves for their galbi chicken. If I was to get food again, I would likely just place my order to pick it up and eat it somewhere else because then I can enjoy it in peace and not so squished. It was kind of hard to make up my mind on the food standing there. If I could have mulled over the menu for a bit longer I would have before heading over there, but I had a hard time finding it on the internet.

Regina has lucked out. Easily the best tonkatsu in the city. The sauce absolutely slaps. The only caveat is that it's small on the inside and fills up quick. Hopefully they can renovate the small space that Smoke's created. A great, unique restaurant that I never expected to pop up in Regina. In between Koreatown and Kimchi, downtown now has two (!) Korean options. Definitely worth a try!

I recently visited a Korea town restaurant and tried their Cheese Forest Chicken and Shrimp Tempura, and both dishes were absolutely delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender on the inside with a rich cheesy topping that made every bite comforting and flavorful. The shrimp tempura was light, crispy, and not greasy at all – you could really taste the freshness of the shrimp.

First time customer. I’ve been craving for pork cutlet so I ordered their King Donkatsu & it’s big, crispy & delicious. Their original boneless chicken thighs are also good & crispy.
